The Animals
The Animals collection encapsulates a series of paintings and illustrations inspired by some of the endangered species threatened by climate change and that is meant to raise awareness on this matter.In these artworks, these creatures become totems in a visual transformative journey where some of the characters can be easily read and recognized, while some have to be found and formed in the eye of the viewer. This makes her artworks infinite, a space where one can construct his own narrative, creating on his own, in his perception, a new artwork.This playful approach, mixed with strong, intuitive brush strokes and smoky waters creates an interactive, powerful, and very much alive imaginary universe that Marika invites us to explore, enjoy, reflect on, and why not, lose ourselves in.The Animals collection is part of Marika's solo show “Spirit/ Form / Freedom/ Lust" presented at Kater Noster, Innsbruck, Austria from January 2020 to June 2020.
